Your body digests food at different places and uses different amounts of energy to do so. Proteins and their ratio with in a food are in direct correlation to your body's retention to fat and your energy level.
Carbs
Carbohydrates are a combination of sugars (monosaccharide) which begin to be broken down in the mouth by saliva. They are more than bread. Carbs are found in vegetables, dairy, fruits... and when broken down into glucose, provide cells with energy. Carbs found in processed foods (sugary treats, sodas, baked goods) are bad. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, and dairy are good carbs. Fiber is part of carbohydrates. It works in the intestines binding to fats and carrying them out as waste and reducing hunger.
Protein
Proteins are broken down within the body into amino acids. Amino acids are absorbed in the small intestine through villi (finger like projections of the intestine lining) and released into the blood stream for transportation. Proteins slow carb digestion which promotes stable blood sugar levels. As levels remain stable, your body resists cravings because you will be internally regulated. Additionally, proteins take more energy to digest so they rev-up your metabolism.

| We no longer are prisoners to our cravings, His grace is sufficient! |
Do not get in a hurry. The "A" #1 reason I find myself eating unhealthy or straying from self control is because I don't see results after 1day. On average it takes about 3 weeks to show noticeable results.
Self control is a fruit of a healthy spirit. Let a healthy life style grow you as a person and slim your waist. Focus not on your weight in a "look at my body" goal but set out for a goal to master your own cravings. We are easily suckers for our desires: popularity, beauty, sex, getting even, being the top. And those that have mastered such things are still empty. Your ambition must be more or the battle will never end, and most likely never be won. In order to run from something, you must run too something else.
